On June 22, 2026, Prof. Alexander Bulling, in his capacity as Chair of the Design Committee of the German Chamber of Patent Attorneys, was invited to appear as an expert witness at a hearing of the Legal Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag on the draft bill to modernize design law.

Alexander Bulling addressed the following points in particular: technology-neutral disclaimers, flexible product specifications, rules for rectifying formal defects in the representation, and consistent terminology in accordance with the new EU Design Regulation.
